Creative writing & artwork
Since her teenage years, Jareen has trained as a multi-media artist. During her time as a student enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Program in South Florida, Jareen specialized in mixed-media artwork. She developed a style that combines acrylic paint, charcoal sketches, and digital editing to create surreal and expressionism artwork, which at times features themes and symbols from various South Asian cultures. In college, she continued her art education, taking courses that focused on drawing, painting, and multi-media production. Her work transformed into visual storytelling where she produced scripted and unscripted content. While attending Emory University, she filmed a documentary on the National Urban Debate League and its influence on at-risk children in the Atlanta public school system. She also created original movies. An art film she wrote and produced won the Campus Moviefest Award for best film by an emerging filmmaker in 2008. In addition, she wrote, filmed, and produced a mockumentary about a zombie college student’s everyday life, which was nominated for best comedy film in the Atlanta college student film festival in 2010.
